Tornadoes Tear Paths Through the Plains, South and Midwest

Multiple strong tornadoes tore paths through Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Alabama, smashing towns and causing death and destruction.

What started out as a weak tornado season seems to have turned on a dime in one big weekend. The towns of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Mayflower and Vilonia, Arkansas, and Tupulo, Mississippi were particularly hard hit. Most of the deaths occurred in Arkansas.
